Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Holly Ramsay announces she is engaged to Olympic swimming partner Adam Peaty
Asking a father for permission to wed his daughter can leave even the toughest of men racked with nerves.
But imagine if that dad is a Michelin-starred chef who is known for his foul-mouthed outbursts.
It cannot have been easy for Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty to ask Gordon Ramsay for his daughter Holly’s hand in marriage.
Yet almost a year after having a yellow diamond ring sized up, the three-time Olympic gold medal winner proposed to his influencer girlfriend while on holiday in Majorca.
Announcing the news on Instagram yesterday, Ms Ramsay wrote: “I am marrying my best friend. I still remember how big my smile was the morning I got home from my first date with you.”
With more than 380,000 followers, Holly, 24, works with brands such as Space NK, Net-a-Porter and Charlotte Tilbury.
She met Peaty, 29, in 2021 on Strictly Come Dancing, where he starred opposite her sister Tilly.
But the couple did not make their relationship official until June last year.
Two months later, Peaty had the ring designed. Ms Ramsay, the second-eldest daughter of TV chef Gordon, paid tribute to Peaty’s three-year-old son George, whose mother is his ex-girlfriend Eirianedd Munro.
She wrote: “I promise to always be there with you and George, I am so grateful to be in his life and I cannot wait for more.”
“Thank you for letting the little girl inside of me feel loved, seen and happier than ever. I love you and I cannot wait to be your wife.”
Family friends have told the Mail how Ms Ramsay has become the “doting stepmother” to George. And Ms Munro has revealed she is happy for them too.
She said: “Holly is so gentle and kind, I couldn’t wish for a better stepmother for my son. We wish them the best.”
A family insider said: “They all love Adam, he and Gordon are extremely close and the family are really supportive of him.”
Peaty also shared a gushing post on social media.
The engagement comes after his decision to take a break from swimming following the Paris Games last month.
He praised his fiancee for sticking with him through his “lowest times”, following his highly publicised battle with alcoholism and mental health issues.
Peaty wrote: “I can’t believe you’re going to be my wife. I’m truly the luckiest man on earth to have such a gentle, caring and beautiful woman by my side. You fill my heart to the brim and give my soul peace.”
“You have been with me when I’ve been at my lowest and you have also celebrated the highs which have been so many, as for the first time in my life, I’m happy with the man I’ve become.”
Peaty, from Uttoxeter in Staffordshire, added: “Your family have always treated me so generously with their time, emotion and trust. I can’t wait to be joined by them too. I promise to always love you with all my heart.”
The couple individually signed off their statements with a passage from the Bible, reflecting Adam’s faith, which he credits for helping him with his health issues.
Ramsay, 57, was quick to share a picture of himself with his daughter with the caption: “Hols, watching you become the woman you are today with your kindness and your love is infectious.”
“Adam is a very lucky man. Welcome to the family.”
The chef, estimated to be worth £185million, has six children with his wife Tana, 50 – Megan, 26, twins Holly and Jack, Tilly, 22, Oscar, five, and Jesse, eight months.
Referring to his remaining unmarried daughters, he added: “One down, two to go.”
