Best known as a former co-host on The Project and one half of a popular radio show, Carrie Bickmore has her sights set on a brand new career path.

And the news won’t leave anyone feeling blue, with Bickmore, 42, set to make her debut in the hit children’s show Bluey.

She will voice Terrier’s mum in an episode set to air Sunday May 28.

In the episode titled TV Shop, Bluey and Bingo use CCTV cameras to get their friends dancing, according to TV Tonight.

TV Shop is the seventh episode in the latest nine-episode season released in April.

The new season is airing at a brand new time slot of 8am aimed at making family viewing easier.

“The move to Sundays allows families to relax and watch their favourite show together without the rush of work or school/daycare routines,” ABC said in a statement.

Other recognisable voices in the new season include surfer Mick Fanning, comedian Adam Hills, singer Kate Miller-Heidke and musician Neil Finn.

Bluey — who the ABC describes as “an inexhaustible six-year-old Blue Heeler dog who loves to play and turns everyday family life into extraordinary adventures” — has become a cult hero in Australian households.

The show focuses on mental, physical and emotional resilience.

In 2020, Bickmore, co-host of the Hit Network’s Carrie and Tommy show, applauded Bluey’s approach.

In a column for Stellar Magazine, the television and radio personality said the animated series gave her children comfort during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

She spoke about her appreciation for the program which tackles sometimes difficult subjects, including working parents, iPad addiction, death and bedtime routines.

“Thank you for getting our kids through the toughest year in their young lives to date,” the mum-of-three wrote.

“You were there during the long days in lockdown. You distracted them when we needed to work with one of them at our feet. You made us laugh when we were stretched as a family.”
