It seems Australia can’t get enough of our beloved Matildas, with their triumph over Canada in the FIFA Women’s World Cup a smash hit for Seven — reaching 4.71 million Aussies on Monday night.

The soccer stars’ victory has become Seven’s most-watched program of this year so far, attracting an average national audience of 2.42 million, including a national broadcast audience of 2.16 million viewers on Seven and another 260,000 viewers on 7plus — a record for an individual event on 7plus.

In WA, it was also the top program of the night, reaching 177,000 fans with 131,000 right here in Perth.

The Matildas’ 4-0 victory saw it top Group B. They will now face the second-placed team in Group D in Sydney next Monday with England, Denmark and China all possible opponents.
