Kia Sorento recalled

Kia Australia is recalling nearly 6000 examples of its Sorento large SUV due to a potential fault with its indicators and daytime running lights (DRLs).

“Due to a software issue, the turn indicator light and/or the upper part of the Daytime Running Lights (DRL) may not operate as intended. This may result in reduced visibility,” the company says in its recall notice.

“Reduced visibility will potentially increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.

“Vehicles are not compliant with Australian Design Rule (ADR) 13/00 – Installation of Lighting and Light Signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles and ADR 76/00 – Daytime Running Lamps.”

• A total of 5978 vehicles built between 2023 and 2024 are affected

Kia Australia is directly contacting all known owners of affected vehicles, and customers are advised to make an appointment with a Kia dealer to have a software update carried out free of charge.

Alternatively, an over-the-air update will be available for customers to carry out on their vehicles.
