A Good Old-Fashioned Big Family Christmas to show at Albany’s Spectrum Theatre
Albany’s Spectrum Theatre has been revamped once again as it prepares to show its final performance of the year in a festive manner that befits a retelling of David Patrick Cook’s A Good Old-Fashioned Big Family Christmas.
First-time director Maddi Sharpe said she loved Christmas and the timing of the show worked perfectly for a performance of Cook’s play.
“It’s about Hadyn and Judith, a married couple, and Hayden accidentally suggests that Judas invite her entire extended family over for a Christmas party,” she said.
“And then they get into all sorts of tricky conversations whenever one had a different understanding of why they’re throwing the party.”
It’s a classic performance of the bickering and intrigue of families during the festive season.
Darian Mercuri stars as Hayden and Nadia Prater will grace the stage as his wife, Judith.
“I decided that I was going to do a show, do my first directing show,” Sharpe said.
“I wasn’t sure what time of year it was going to be, and then I got the last slot of the year, which is obviously close to Christmas.”
“And I just love Christmas, so I thought why not bring a great family Christmas show to the community?”
A Good Old-Fashioned Big Family Christmas will run from November 24 to December 9 at Spectrum Theatre.
