Keen players are being urged to sign up for this year’s Busselton-Margaret River Cricket Association competition, with registrations still open.

Although earlybird registrations had closed, the Margaret River Hawks Cricket Club was still short a few players across all grades, club spokesperson Michael Earl said.

“We’re on the lookout for a few more players across all grades, and we especially need two or three more Under-16s players to complete our junior squad,” he said.

“A, B, and C grade teams are also seeking new recruits, and we’re putting a special call out for female cricketers interested in playing.

“No experience? No problem. Whether you’ve played before or never picked up a bat, the Hawks is the perfect place to get involved. Our club focuses on inclusivity, teamwork and learning while having fun.”

A pre-season training session last Wednesday’s saw more than 30 players stump up.

Earl said the club was looking forward to building momentum.

“The season ahead is shaping up to be exciting, and we’d love to see even more new faces,” he said.

Trainings were held in Margaret River every Thursday, followed by a post-training barbecue.

The Hawks promoted team building and community as well as supporting the sport, he said.
