Frederick Street roundabout upgrades commence to improve access to Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre

The roundabout on Frederick Street near Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre is set to undergo upgrades to allow better access to the recreational facility with construction beginning in late January. While construction takes place an additional access road will be built to enable the community to access the BRAC outdoor facilities, including the pump track, ovals, basketball courts, and tennis courts. However, the current exit from BRAC onto Frederick Street will remain closed to the public. The project will include additional footpaths to the facility, enhancing safety for pedestrians and cyclists travelling to and from BRAC. Construction on Frederick Street is expected to have minimal impact on traffic flow, with a double-lane sidetrack providing safe passage around the site without interruption. The project is estimated to be completed by mid-June 2025 and is partially funded by $812,500 of the Australian Government’s Roads to Recovery (RTR) program and $880,000 of Main Roads Western Australia Road Project Grant.
