The nephew of former Australian Test cricketer Carl Rackemann has appeared in court charged with the domestic violence murder of his mother.

Conor Robert Rackemann appeared at Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday, six days after the Queensland Police upgraded their charges against him for allegedly killing his mother Suzy Rackemann.

The police allege the 29-year-old assaulted Ms Rackemann at an Upper Kedron address in Brisbane about 5.45am on August 17.

The police allege Ms Rackemann, 61, suffered critical head injuries in the altercation.

Paramedics took her to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition, the police said.
