Nine WA police officers will be out of action for up to 48 hours after arresting a man who claimed he had coronavirus.

The WA Police Union told 7NEWS Perth tonight that nine of its members were in self-isolation after arresting the man at his house.

Police were in the middle of a search at the home today when the man claimed he was feeling sick. The man is in quarantine at the Perth Watch House, waiting for his virus test results.

More than 2000 West Australians have been tested for COVID-19, with the number of cases remaining at nine as of tonight.

Of the 1500 people who went to COVID clinics in the two days since opening, 640 were turned away because they did not meet the testing criteria.

The number of cases in WA is expected to increase in coming days as those tested at the clinics received their results.
