Anthony James Geere: Man accused of running away from police after crashing it on freeway fronts court

A man accused of stealing a car from the Perth CBD before crashing it on the freeway and fleeing police has fronted court. Anthony James Geere, 29, faced Perth Magistrates Court on Friday charged with stealing a motor vehicle and reckless driving, no authority to drive and possession of methamphetamine. He is also facing charges relating to robbery, burglary, stealing and failing to comply with reporting obligations. Police allege that about 7.30pm on November 7, Mr Geere stole a white Isuzu DMAX utility from a business on St Georges Terrace, Perth, before crashing it into another car as he left the site. He then allegedly drove down Kwinana Freeway before crashing into a fence near the Mill Point Road exit and fleeing the scene. Mr Geere — who is believed to have been the only person in the car — was tracked down by police dogs and arrested nearby a short while later. He has been remanded in custody and will face court again on November 21 for legal advice.
