A 33-year-old man has appeared appeared at South Hedland Magistrates Court this morning on charges related to the death of a 29-year-old woman at the weekend.

Razak Simon Bin Saad will now be held in custody at Roebourne Regional Prison until he appears via video link at South Hedland Magistrates Court on January 18.

He is charged with unlawfully causing grievous bodily harm with a circumstance of aggravation.

Mr Bin Saad also appeared in court this morning on four unrelated charges including two counts of unlawful assault causing bodily harm with circumstances of aggravation, breach of protective bail conditions and one charge of common assault in circumstances of aggravation or racial aggravation.

No application was made for bail.

Mr Bin Saad's brother Shaddon Murry, who was due to appear in the court this morning on unrelated charges himself, watched on from the gallery as Mr Bin Saad's charges were read out.
