The season’s top performers were recognised at the conclusion of the Geraldton Amateur Basketball Association grand finals recently, with all-star and MVP presentations.

In the women’s division one grand final between Pumas and Stateside, it was Tia Morgan from Pumas who took out top honours of grand final MVP.

Morgan finished her night with a stunning 27-point performance, leading her Pumas to victory 59-46.

In the men’s division one big dance between Pumas and Chapman Valley, it was Chapman Valley who got the chocolates in a fierce battle on the court.

But it was Liam Hunt of Pumas who walked away with the grand final MVP for his mammoth efforts in attempting to get his side over the line.

Hunt finished with 30 points but unfortunately it wasn’t enough for his Pumas who went down to Chapman Valley in the decider 73-62.

Season MVP for the women’s division went to Pumas star Millie Gerreyn who was a constant leader for her side and headache for opposition teams during the season.

Runner-up MVP went to Stateside’s Abbie McDonald who squared off against Gerreyn in the grand final.

Men’s season MVP went to Ryan Blanchett from Hawks who impressed all season for his side, also taking out highest point scorer for the season.

Runner-up MVP was awarded to Buccs and Chapman Valley star Mat Wundenberg who also claimed the best defensive player of the season award.

The rising star awards went to Holly Banes of Trades and Jarrad Mongoo from Pumas.

The all-star teams in both the men’s and women’s divisions were also announced and honoured for their stellar seasons in the 2024-25 GABA.
