Federal election pre-poll to begin at Geraldton Yacht Club on April 22
With just over two weeks to go until the nation votes in the Federal election, early polling will begin in Geraldton next week.
Voting early has become a trend in recent years, with last month’s State election showing about 44 per cent of the enrolled population took the opportunity to cast their votes before to election day.
In the Mid West, an early polling place will be set up at the Geraldton Yacht Club, starting on Tuesday, April 22.
Most of the time, the polls will be open from 8.30am until 5.30pm, with the exceptions on Saturday, April 26 (9am to 4pm), Friday, May 2 (8.30am to 6pm) and election day on Saturday, May 3 (8am to 6pm).
The polling booths will not be open on Easter Monday, Anzac Day, or Sunday, April 27.
In the Gascoyne, Carnarvon’s Civic Centre will be open from Saturday, April 26, running with the same hours.
Last week, nine candidates emerged for the seat of Durack to represent the region.
Liberal incumbent Melissa Price is seeking a fifth term and is widely regarded as the favourite to claim the seat.
The challengers are Labor’s Karen Wheatland, Nationals’ Bailey Kempton, Greens’ Brendan Sturcke, Australian Christian Eugenie Harris, Indigenous-Aboriginal Party of Australia’s Jason Hunter, Legalise Cannabis’ Kat Wright, One Nation’s Mark Berry and Trumpet of Patriots’ Maarten Kornaat.
