An upset result and heat-induced postponements headlined round 13 of action in the Geraldton Amateur Basketball Association.

In the men’s top league, the match meant to be played on Monday night between ladder leaders Chapman Valley and third-placed Pumas had to be rescheduled to Thursday night after Geraldton recorded its equal-hottest day on record of 49.3C.

The Tuesday night match up saw Stateside get the best of second-placed Olympians in an upset result.

Stateside’s Tyrone Papertalk Jr led the way in the scoring department with a solid 26-point outing. Papertalk Jr was supported by teammates Johny Narkle and Stuart Egan chalking up 20 points a piece.

Olympians’ scoring was led by Jack Stone with 24 points but it wasn’t enough for his side as Stateside defeated Olympians 118-72.

Wednesday night featured a bottom of the table clash between Trades and Hawks, with both teams looking to finish off the season in winning ways.

Hawks Levi Owen and Ryan Blanchett finished their nights with 23 and 22 points respectively while Trades’ Joseph Iaria did his best to lift his side leading scoring with 16 points.

Hawks got the better of Trades, winning 74-63.

Only one game has been played so far in the women’s division one league during round 13, with Chapman Valley and Pumas also missing out on Monday’s game due to the extreme heat.

As the weather cooled down, Olympians and Stateside took to the court to play on Tuesday night.

Kylie MacDonald led the way for her Olympians with an impressive 21-point performance.

However it wasn’t quite enough with Stateside’s Charlotte Kennedy dominating with 25 points, helping to secure the win for her side by 15 points.

Stateside got the chocolates over Olympians, 65-50.

The women’s clash between Chapman Valley and Pumas was also rescheduled for Thursday night.
