Geraldton softball grand finals: Suiside men dominate in deciders, winning both division titles

Suiside Fastpitch Club delivered a powerful statement on Saturday, claiming both division one and two men’s titles in the 2025 Geraldton softball grand finals in dominant fashion.
In division one, Suiside overwhelmed Rams 9–2 in what can only be described as a softball masterclass.
Cooper Jefferies was the standout, delivering a performance that was arguably the best of his season, if not his career. His commanding presence as pitcher and batter earned him MVP honours.
Jack Garland sparked the dominant display with a monster home run that smacked the floodlight pole — if not for the pole, it would have sailed well more than 20 metres past the fence.
The Bulldogs maintained composure throughout, even when key decisions went against them. The entire team stepped up, with strong contributions from Liam Meharry, Kane Jefferies and Jy Prosser.
Cooper Jefferies put an emphatic stamp on the win with a screaming home run over the right field fence, sending four runs home and sealing the result.
Rams themselves played a commendable game. Dean Pascoe pitched strongly and Jake Chapman cracked a solid home run. They barely put a foot wrong, but Suiside simply played better in every department.
Suiside coach Murray Connell delivered a tactical gameplan, keeping the Bulldogs calm, disciplined, and focused.
Cooper Jefferies reflected on the achievement after the game, saying it was “incredible”: “(I’m) just over the moon, it’s celebration time now.”
The division two grand final saw Suiside complete the championship double with a crushing 11–0 win over Martians Red.
The young Martians side gave it their all but were outclassed by the more experienced Bulldogs outfit.
With just 17 plate appearances, Martians managed only two safe hits and struck out seven times while also conceding five fielding errors. In contrast, Suiside capitalised on their 23 appearances, notching five safe hits and limiting their mistakes.
Murray Connell earned MVP honours for his stellar performance behind the plate, including a double play that saw him tag home for the first out and throw to first for the second.
He also opened the batting with a shot over the fence, setting the tone for the game.
Kane Jefferies was equally impressive, pitching a shutout and tallying seven strikeouts.
According to Suiside’s development co-ordinator Kerri Jefferies-Bowes: “Kane would have been close as well to MVP — he pitched a shutout — but Murray played awesome too.”
Other key contributors included Pez Garland and Levi Jefferies, who played with grit and determination.
“The boys looked really determined out there,” Jefferies-Bowes said.
“Martians did come out firing, but our defence was just too strong.”
Martians Red were not without their own moments. Kynan Leggett recorded two strikeouts and had one of the team’s two safe hits, while Kaeden Brott took two clean outfield catches. But on the day, Suiside proved to be in a league of their own.
In the juniors competition, Blaze defeated Suiside 6-4. Suiside took an early lead but Blaze showed determination to pull back and overcome the strong Bulldogs side.
