Kamo leads the way in double rise event
Murray Kamo carded a score of 40 out of 50 to win the Eastern Goldfields Clay Target Club’s recent 25-pair double rise championship.
Royce Normington was runner-up with 39/40 — a shot clear of Mick Howley.
The other event, the Deauville doubles club championship, was won by Pete Rowling and Matt Iwankiw with an impressive 19/20.
Brendon Vodden and Rowdy Harrison shot 17/20, in a tie for second place with Jim Hurst and Mark Lamont.
Meanwhile, local members Andrew and Jackie Twigg competed in Collie with great success at the State Compak Sporting Clays Championships.
Jackie scored 75/100 to win the C-grade division and was crowned the Ladies’ State Champion.
Andrew shot 83/100 to narrowly miss a place in A-grade.
In the Challenge Cup, Andrew was second in A-grade with a score of 46/50, and 19 /25 in a shoot-off while Jackie again won the ladies’ trophy with 35/50.
She also claimed the overall C-grade high gun sash with 110/150, and Andrew was overall fifth in the A-grade standings.
Another club stalwart, Marty Miles, recently contested SA’s Trap Championships, grabbing first in A-grade for the State Point Score Title with 146/150.
