Karratha Kats record hints at competitive 2025 premiership campaign
The Karratha Kats are preparing for a strong 2025 campaign, building on their third-place finish in the North Pilbara Football League in 2024.
With eight wins, six losses, and one draw last season, the Kats proved they’re a legitimate finals contender.
The challenge now is to lift their game and compete with league powerhouses Dampier Sharks and Karratha Falcons for a top-two finish.
The 2024 ladder reflects a competitive Kats side with room to improve.
Their percentage of 101.68 shows they can hold their own against most teams but need to find more consistency to dominate.
While their 1,028 points scored was impressive, placing them third in the league, the 1,011 points they conceded reveals a defensive weakness that must be addressed if they’re to make a serious premiership bid.
One of the Kats’ clear strengths is their ability to deliver in close matches, evidenced by narrow wins over Wickham Wolves and a gutsy elimination final victory against Port Hedland.
However, repeated losses to the Falcons and Sharks highlight the gap they need to bridge to reach the competition’s upper echelon.
The Kats have shown they can compete at a high level, but improving defensive pressure and making the most of scoring opportunities will be key.
With a strong core of players and valuable lessons from last season, the Kats are well-placed to push for a grand final berth in 2025, aiming to prove they can match it with the league’s best.
