Marble Bar will once again defy the heat as it prepares to host the annual Marble Bar Cup this July.

Since its inception in 1893 - the same year the town was founded - the event has stood as a pillar of community spirit in the Pilbara region.

Racing and Wagering WA CEO Ian Edwards noted the historically significant impact the club has had on the region.

“For the past 130 years, the Marble Bar Cup has provided people from across the Pilbara a chance to connect and enjoy a day at the races,” he said.

Mr Edwards highlighted its broader impact, stating that racing contributes $1.3 billion annually to Western Australia’s economy, with $17.8 million stemming from the Pilbara region alone.

There is wide-ranging anticipation for the event from both locals and tourists, with the Marble Bar Race Club expecting around 2000 attendees on July 6.

Club Secretary Pam Townsend expressed confidence in another successful year.

“The Cup brings us together as a community and really puts Marble Bar on the map as a tourist destination,” Ms Townsend said.

“Everyone enjoys spending the day catching up with family and friends while cheering on the horses and jockeys,” she said.

As preparations continue, Marble Bar stands ready to showcase its enduring spirit and hospitality, welcoming visitors from near and far to share in the excitement of one of Australia’s most iconic racing events.
