New Port Hedland cross-collaboration art exhibition inspired by place, fragility and cultural adaptation

Hedland creatives will gain their art fix at an upcoming exhibition Listening Geographies, Portraits of Mirage Country at The Junction Co’s Courthouse Gallery+Studio. The opening night will be held on Thursday, September 12 and art aficionados can expect to the see the works of talented artists from the Indian Ocean rim. Featured artists include Amelia Blanco, a Port Hedland resident whose work reflects her family’s multi-generational migration and cultural adaptation; Kate Alida Mullen, blending traditional and modern storytelling to create a multi-sensory portrait of place; and Andrea Vinkovic, who is inspired by fragility, organic beauty and the delicate balance of the natural environment. Through The Junction Co and Courthouse Gallery+Studio Artist in Residence program, the artists are on-site to mingle with patrons and enrich the gallery experience. Through various workshops and residency programs, the community will also contribute works to the exhibition’s installation.
