Position on table

The Town of Port Hedland will finally fill the final position on the audit, risk and governance committee this week as councillors revisit the highly debated position.

In December last year, the council failed to fill one of the open positions on the ARG committee because of insufficient qualified applicants, opting instead to readvertise the position.

Since readvertisement, the Town has received two applications, which have been reviewed by the Town’s administration.

If the council decides not to appoint a new member, the committee will still be able to operate with a membership of nine elected members; however, council does have the option to increase or decrease the number of community members if they wish.
