Economic development and growth was on the agenda at the August Business After Hours event.

Hosted by the Pilbara Development Commission and LandCorp, attendees heard about the latest projects and local contract opportunities the two companies had on offer as they enjoyed refreshments and canapes.

PDC chairman Chris Gilmour said the growth of the small and medium-sized businesses sector was important as the region adjusted to the shift from construction era to a more stable operational future.

“Businesses must now be innovative and entrepreneurial to succeed and make the most of the exciting economic opportunities this offers,” he said.

“This is valuable opportunity to connect with local businesses and better understand the current challenges facing the town.”

The August event also gave businesses the opportunity to see the new Youth Involvement Council HQ and experience the new social enterprise program Fresh Start Cafe.

LandCorp East Pilbara regional manager Brad Pawlenko said investment in the Pilbara over the past decade helped make the region a great place to work, live and play.

“LandCorp’s focus on regional development will continue as the mining and resources industries evolve,” he said.
