Major crashinvestigators are searching for a driver involved in a South Hedland hit-and-run crash that left a female pedestrian hospitalised.

It is understood the 47-year-old woman was crossing Forrest Circle when she was hit by a white Toyota Camry sedan at about 5pm on June 29.

Police say the vehicle failed to stop, and continued to drive along Forrest Circle before turning into Cottier Drive and then right into Kennedy street at the roundabout.

The woman was taken to Hedland Health Campus and transferred to Perth where she is still receiving treatment.

At this stage no charges have been laid but police believe the driver can assist with their enquiries.
