Session for potential councillors
Residents interested in standing for council have been invited to a free candidate information session at the Town of Port Hedland.
The information session, to be held on Thursday, will give those interested in becoming an elected member a chance to learn about the role and what it encompasses.
A town spokeswoman said the session would provide an overview of local government and the roles and responsibilities of the council and elected members.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet with representatives of the Town of Port Hedland and the Western Australian Electoral Commission.
The information session will begin at 5.30pm at the Town of Port Hedland Council Chambers on the second floor of the Civic Centre.
Vacancies and general electoral information can be found at port hedland.wa.gov.au/local-govern ment-elections.aspx.
If members of the public would like to stand for council, they must be enrolled to vote by 5pm on Friday.
Nominations for election open on September 7.
