Taylor hits a home run and Raiders and Jets walk away winners in Hedland Softball
A home run by Pirates’ Shakira Taylor was the highlight of round 12 of Hedland softball at Marie Marland Reserve on Thursday , as the Raiders and Jets chalked up dominant victories as the two best sides for the year.
The Jets defeated the Pirates 17-8 in game one behind strong outings from Di Tittums and Lisa Feilder.
Tittums went four for four with two RBI’s, Feilder went three for five with four RBI’s and Serina Lefroy contributed with two for two and three RBI’s.
Jets’ pitcher Toni McMahon pitched for five innings, conceding 10 hits and had three strike outs and three walks.
For the Pirates, Jasmine Hair and Chloe Glasson went two for three and Shakira Taylor was the star of the show with two for two and an exhilarating home run.
Following the Jet’s victory, the Raiders defeated PCYC 17-6 in another comfortable performance.
Emma Simpson was best afield for the ladder leading Raiders with three for four and two RBI’s.
Timara Simpson filed the stat sheet with two for three and three RBI’s while Kelly Johnson chiped in with two for four and three RBI’s.
Jennifer Geary was the best pitcher for the night with seven hits in five innings, four strike outs and four walks.
Cherie Ashburton for PCYC went two for three and Carmel Ford went for one for three with two RBI’s in a losing side.
Raiders are two wins clear on top of the table with eight victories, only conceding two defeats for the year.
