Youngsters’ spirits soar at kite lesson

Hedland kids had the opportunity to create, colour, test and fly their own kites at JD Hardie Youth Zone last week.

The two-hour workshops, organised by EPIC and Port Hedland Universal Science Engagement, included a brief lesson on the rules of aerodynamics and a tutorial on how to construct a kite from scratch.

Children enjoyed putting their artistic skills to the test, personalising their own kites with designs suitably fitting the Australia Day theme.

The engaging experience attracted many youngsters who were eager to test out their creations at the end, watching their kites soar.
