A lucky lotto winner is yet to claim their prize after staff at South Hedland’s Lucky Charm newsagency sold a winning division one ticket for Saturday night’s Lotto Superdraw.

The winner will take home $750,000 and was one of eight winners from across WA and 28 from across Australia sharing in the $21 million prize pool.

Cassandra Nicholas, Lucky Charm staff member, said it was the first division one ticket sold for the store which opened in April.

She said staff and customers had been busy speculating who may have bought the ticket, with the store selling them to travellers regularly.

Mrs Nicholas said it was an exciting occasion for all of the store’s staff who had not worked in an agency which had sold a winning division one ticket before.

“I don’t even think the manager’s sold one,” she said.

Mrs Nicholas said she believed the win would encourage some competition between the town’s two newsagencies.

The last winning division one lotto ticket sold in Hedland was sold in January this year at South Hedland Newsagency, which has since closed down.

Mrs Nicholas urged anyone who thought they may have the winning ticket to come forward and “run it through the machine”.

“We’d love to meet the person who’s won it,” she said.

Over 222,000 other WA players picked up a prize in the weekend's Superdraw.

Winning Tickets were also sold at Corrigin Newsagency, Bluff Point Newsagency in Geraldton and Galleria News in Morley.
