Baseball players challenge Roy Hill workers
Players from Port Hedland Baseball Association’s A-Reserve will face off against workers from Roy Hill in a friendly fundraiser match on Friday.
President Peter Starling encouraged locals to support the event which would give Fly-in-,Fly Out workers based at Roy Hill the opportunity to engage with the baseball community.
“It’s the Port Hedland Baseball Association’s 40th anniversary, we would love to get more involvement from the whole community this year,” he said.
“One of our long-term members Mick Finlay has got a lot of interest from workers at Roy Hill and I believe the general manager from Roy Hill will be down at the pitch to watch.
“This will be a great opportunity to showcase the game to the community, let’s make this a great night to get back into the swing of things for 2016.”
Mr Starling said proceeds from canteen sales would assist junior baseball players flying to Hong Kong for the Seabyst competition later this year.
The game will be held at Marie Marland Reserve on Hudson Way, off Hamilton Road on January 29, 7.30pm.
