Be cyclone-smart this summer

Horizon Power has urged Pilbara residents to be cyclone-smart this summer with an advertising campaign aimed at helping residents prepare and reduce potential damage.

The campaign, which started on September 15, highlighted the most important precautions to take before, during and after a storm or cyclone.

Horizon Power branding and education manager Andrew Riches said a few simple steps could help minimise storm damage.

"We urge our customers to hire a professional tree contractor to trim trees at least 3m from powerlines.

"Cleaning up around the outside of your home and making sure boats, caravans, chairs and tables are secured or stored away, will help prevent damage to your property and that of your neighbours."

Horizon Power said it remained committed to providing a reliable power supply and to working quickly to restore power when a cyclone stuck.

Customers who rely on life support equipment can register with Horizon to ensure their service is prioritised after any interruption
