The Newman community watched on as 120 competitors of all ages tested their fitness at the 2016 Newman Triathlon earlier this month.

Participants competed individually or in teams with the Blue Bats taking the blue ribbon for the junior course, the lifeguards winning the team short course and Oakley/Dark/Oakley first over the line for the team full-course event.

The day concluded with a community barbecue provided by the Newman Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Shire chief executive Allen Cooper said special thanks was owed to all the volunteers on the day, BHP Billiton and Woolworths Newman who worked hard to make the event successful.
