Cricket academy founder headed to Newman
Famous cricket coach and cricket academy founder Mickey Arthur will be in Newman next month to host a coaching development workshop.
The workshop is aimed to cater for all codes of sport and will highlight the critical role of the community coach, key focus areas and objectives of the role as well as how to keep coaching skills relevant and contemporary.
Arthur, who coached the South African National Cricket Team from 2005 to 2010 before going on to coach the Australian Cricket Team from 2011 to 2013, will offer valuable information and tips on how to transition athletes along the sporting talent pathway.
The workshop is run by the Shire of East Pilbara, with support from the Department of Sport and Recreation and is being co-ordinated by the Newman Recreation Centre.
Attendance is free.
The event will be held at 7pm on Wednesday, May 25, at the Boomerang Oval Pavilion.
