Drivers’ habits star in YouTube channel
A YouTube channel showcasing the driving habits of Hedland motorists has emerged online.
The channel, titled “Crap Drivers Hedland”, shows more than 10 videos of vehicles overtaking on double-white lines and drivers illegally overtaking a cyclist.
“A white sedan…turns onto Clark Street from McGregor Street and then attempts to turn back…failing to give way to traffic,” the description on one video states.
“A white 4WD…overtakes me crossing double unbroken lines on McGregor Street, Port Hedland into oncoming traffic…illegal and ridiculously dangerous,” says another.
Port Hedland police Constable Anthony Higgins said while there were some traffic offences spotted in the videos, police wouldn’t be following it up at this stage.
“It seems as though it is a cyclist who is going much slower than the speed limit and the drivers aren’t being as dangerous as they are making it out to be,” he said.
Const. Higgins said technology could aid investigations but police would not rely solely on video evidence in situations such as this.
