A two-player Ambrose competition marked the end of an era at the Port Hedland Golf Club at the weekend.

Crown Demolition, in partnership with the Thorby Family, presented the event, which is always a favourite among members.

In his farewell game at the club, Adrian Jefford partnered Nick Preece and together, Team Kiwi demolished the rest of the field with a dominant display.

Jefford eagled their final hole, with no assistance from his partner, to post a gross score of 63 and a nett total of 59.25.

That saw them win comfortably from another Kiwi connection, Blaize and Tyce Robinson, who finished with a score of 61.

Third place went to Jarrod Hodgins and Peter Maidment, who posted a score of 63. Nearest the pin on the 2nd hole was won by Ian Hubble, Tyce Robinson nearly holed out on the long 8th to win nearest there, Eddie Piper took home nearest on the 13th hole and Jefford knocked it inside 2 feet, only to see his partner miss the putt, but cleaned it up for the birdie himself.

Men's longest drive was taken out by Duncan Harrison and Matt Walls took out another long putt with a monster on the 4th green.

This weekend is a Stableford event along with the return Pennant matches against Karratha.

The Karratha team have a healthy lead after the first round of matches on their home team.

The club will be looking for a strong performance from its crew to try to take home the trophy this year.

Tee-off is at noon and names must be in by 11.30am.
