Hedland youngsters have been loving the Town of Port Hedland's new fortnightly Lego Club so much there are plans to introduce extra sessions next year.

The month-old club is run on Thursday nights on a fortnightly basis, but after being inundated with about 50 children during the last meet, Town co-ordinator library service Sharon Groch admitted there was a need to make it a weekly event.

"This was our trial project, but it has proven to be very popular," she said. "We'll keep it going for the remainder of this year and next year we'll look at expanding it to the Port Hedland Library as well.

"The Lego is provided by the library and they have about an hour and a half to have a play.

"It's essentially about letting children come in and socialise with others who have a similar interest."

The Lego Club is open for children of all ages from 4.30pm tomorrow at the South Hedland Library on Leake Street.
