North West Festival sponsor MACRO Realty Developments has yet to deliver on its payment for the three-day music concert, the Town of Port Hedland has confirmed.

MACRO committed to paying $250,000 in sponsorship for the August 19-21 event, but recently missed the delivery date for its first payment.

In side-stepping questions about whether this could lead to the cancellation of the three-day festival, Mayor Kelly Howlett said MACRO remained a “valued partner in the event”.

“As noted at the June ordinary council meeting, the Town is yet to receive payment, however we are continuing discussions with MACRO,” she said.

“We continue to work with all of our partners to deliver the Pilbara’s best and original weekender, the North West Festival, in August.

“Legally binding contracts are in place with all of the festival sponsors, MACRO included.”

MACRO is understood to have closed down its separate property management arm in the Pilbara, called MACRO Realty, along with its Hedland office.
