First reverse proves tough test for Marble Bar locals

Marble Bar held its inaugural Reverse Triathlon this month in conjunction with the annual end of muster celebrations.

The event saw competitors in teams, as well as one individual competitor, tackle a 3km run and 6.5km cycle, before cooling off with a 250m swim.

Organised by the Marble Bar Community Resource Centre, the Shire of East Pilbara and the Iron Clad Hotel, three teams took part, with the Iron Clad team finishing the event in first place in a time of 36min. 36sec.

Team two, known as Out of Town, finished the race about a minute after the front runners, while team three comprised of tourists and locals finished the race in just over an hour.

But it was Jack Bennet, or “Windmill Jack”, who impressed, finishing in 1hr 12min.
