Fishing trip win!

“Gobsmacked” was Port Hedland resident’s Brad Anderson’s reaction at winning a fishing trip to Papua New Guinea with celebrity fisherman Mark Berg on Saturday.

But Mr Anderson, a resident of 16 years who will travel on the week’s fully paid fishing trip with Berg this month, wasn’t the only one gobsmacked.

Allegedly the host of television show ‘Fishing Addiction’ caught the biggest North West Snapper of his career right off the Hedland coast on Sunday.

In town for the weekend’s Men’s Conference at the Matt Dann, Berg pulled a crowd of around 180 people.

Christian City Church member and men’s group co-ordinator Glenn Cawood said the fishing star and assembled men ‘talked fishing’ at the motivational conference.

“Berg will definitely be coming back; the next one is going to be more family orientated.

“There are so many kids that love it as well and it is about reaching the community- and Mark likes to encourage men especially to take their children out fishing,” Mr Cawood said.

Mark Berg drops in unexpectedly on men around Australia and takes them on the fishing trip of a lifetime.

In a first for WA, he joined the South Hedland forum to encourage men in the male-dominated town to talk honestly about their issues.

The conference was open to all men in Hedland.
