Fusion of food and culture on the menu
Residents and visitors of Newman will be treated to a three-day festival this spring, featuring music, dance, art and cooking events.
The Outback Fusion Festival, hosted by the Shire of East Pilbara, will take place in various locations across Newman from September 23-25.
The climax of the festival will be the Newman World Stage event, which will showcase local talent as well as headlining WA musicians.
Chief executive Allen Cooper said the three-day festival would celebrate the unique, diverse and inclusive culture of the East Pilbara, made possible by a successful funding application to Tourism WA through the Regional Events Scheme.
“We are joined by BHP Billiton, who are the major funding sponsor for the event, and we look forward to working together with them to create another successful and fun-filled community event,” he added.
Expressions of interest are now being taken from groups and individuals who wish to be involved in showcasing their talents or products at the festival.
A full program of events will be available in mid-August.
