It was another busy weekend of golf with the LML Electrical August Monthly Mug played on Saturday and the Holden Scramble held on Sunday at Port Hedland Golf Club.

Only a small field took to the course for the mug and in windy conditions, Heather Mills outlasted all other challengers to win with a great score of net 65.

Nipping at her heels was the Scottish terrier Bob Kelly with a net 66 and one shot further back was Garry Bright.

Nearest the pin on the second went to Lyn Lissa, Jeff Shaw won the eighth, Trent Collins took out the 13th and Leon Tioke won nearest on the 17th.

Nearest for three shots on the ninth hole was won by Bryan Colbert and the longest putt went to Bright.

None of the ladies managed to find the first fairway where their long drive was but Peter Maidment won the men’s long drive on the 18th.

Thirteen teams rolled up for the Holden Scramble on Sunday and Heather Mills made it a quinella for the weekend as she guided her team to victory by the smallest margin.

Mills was joined by Jeff Shaw and Jim and Maude Canning and they edged out Paul Kilmartin, Bob Kelly, Ray Thoms and Gavin Hathoway by 0.125 of a stroke.

The winners have qualified to represent Port Hedland Golf Club at the regional final at Secret Harbour Golf Course in mid-October.

After the game, players and families were treated to a great traditional Thai meal.

This weekend is a Stableford event starting at noon with names to be in by 11.30am.
