Hedland Sporting Shooters Club members faced muggy conditions and a modest breeze during their fourth field rifle event on Sunday, May 1.

This rimfire event was dominated by Warren Goodfield, who shot an excellent score of 344.2 to take the title.

Rising star Jason Reed posted a score of 337.1 to take second and Nesbit Anderson grabbed third with a score of 323.1.

Fourth place was Philip Murray with a score of 319.1 and Cortlan Bennet took fifth on 315.4.

The second event of the morning was the centrefire discipline.

As usual, the range was heating up and the breeze soon followed.

The battle for first place was tight, with only two points seperating Murray, Anderson and Goodfield going into the 200m target section.

Goodfield blitzed the other competitors, shooting a score of 97 points out of a possible 101 at the 200m range, enabling him to take a well-deserved first place with a total score of 349.1.

Murray continued to show why he is also one of the top centrefire shooters and took second place with a score of 332.1.

Colin Fiedler maintained his composure and rallied to grab third place with a score of 321.2.

Anderson claimed fourth with a score of 313.1 and Reed was fifth with 308.2.
