High tea to wrap up wonderful wellness week
Hedland ladies have already studied edible gardening and tax tips and toured the West End’s historical sites as part of Women on Wellness events this week.
Organised by the Hedland Well Women’s Centre, WOW week kicked off on Monday and includes 35 workshops and activities leading up to Sunday’s finale high tea, from 2.30-4.30pm.
WOW week organiser Tracey Morrison said the high tea was open to 40 ladies and would feature sweet and savoury food served in high-tea style.
“So get dressed in your fabulous afternoon wear and come and join us for a girly chat and a tea and coffee,” she said.
“That is a good two hours of chatting to finish off our wonderful week and hopefully we will get good feedback on the programs we’ve been putting on.”
Organised as an extension of the Well Women’s daily mission to support the emotional, social and physical wellbeing of local women, Ms Morrison said another highlight of the week was the workshops run by in-house dietician Nicole Bathurst.
Ms Bathurst today serves up paleo dishes to 12 hungry participants in an 11am-1pm workshop.
“Twelve people will be given a demonstration of paleo, what to cook, how to cook it and serve it up — they will sit around and do it as a lunch date,” Ms Morrison said.
Ms Bathurst will also lead a workshop about eating on a budget tomorrow at 10am.
The high tea and Ms Bathurst’s nutrition guides are just the beginning Ms Morrison said.
With another five days of activities left, she said Hedland ladies should contact the Hedland Well Women’s Centre on 9140 1124 for information on the rest of the program.
