Port Hedland made a new entry into the record books last week, recording the hottest April day since 1942.

Peaking at 42.5 degrees last Monday, it was .1 of a degree warmer than April 6, 1986, which previously held the record.

It was a warm day all around the Pilbara, with Learmonth Airport in Exmouth also recording a record 41.8 degrees, Meekatharra hitting a record 40.6 and Mt Magnet hitting 38.4.
