One of Port Hedland’s youngest motocross enthusiasts is keen to tear up the track this weekend when Port Hedland Motorcycle Club’s season opener gets going.

Punters will be able to watch the action under the lights on Saturday night with jump displays kicking off at 5.30pm before racing starts at 6.30pm at Action Park.

Jack Stillman, 9, said the night rounds were his favourite to ride in because of the different atmosphere.

“I like doing the races all year round, but I like to do the two night rounds the most,” he said.

“It's awesome riding under the moon and lights.

“I'm better in the dark than riding in the boiling hot sun.”

Riders will travel from Karratha, Wickham and Broome to take part in the event, with registration open from 3pm on the day.

The club’s committee expect a big turnout, with more than 30 lighting towers set to light up the newly updated and well watered track.
