Natasha continues her great year
Maintenance planner and fly-in, fly-out worker Natasha Cann has been announced as a finalist for a Telstra Small Business awards, adding to an already impressive year for the Pilbara-raised business owner.
Ms Cann, who owns maintenance planning service business NM Cann and is working on contract for BHP Billiton in Port Hedland, took out a Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA Women in Resources award in March.
This time around the Dampier-born girl is a finalist in the start-up and regional categories for the Telstra awards.
Ms Cann said it was mindblowing to be a finalist in another award, and she hoped her experience would inspire other women looking at getting into the mining industry.
“Knowing that I’m from this area, I’m not just walking out the door and back to Perth with my experience and a bit of cash, I want to help to re-orientate the workforce towards women,” she said.
“Let’s say ‘Hey, let’s look at a resource pool, we have women here’, and if I’m successful, why can’t others do it too.”
