New seasons fire up at JD's
The new season for mixed volleyball, netball and futsal is soon to begin at the JD Hardie Centre, and for the first time a new basketball competition will also be part of the line up.
Town of Port Hedland recreation manager Kimmy Cooper said the JD’s competitions aimed to provide the community with physical activity opportunities in a fun and friendly environment.
“All our competitions range in skill level so it doesn’t matter if you’ve never played before or if you’re looking for a tough competition that will put your skills to the test,” she said. “We also encourage teams to consider umpiring or learning how to umpire as the games cannot go ahead without this valuable position being filled, and we’ll even pay you for it.”
Ms Cooper issued a special thanks to all teams that played at the JD last season and said she looked forward to seeing them back, full of enthusiasm and renewed energy.
“Places are limited so get your nominations in nice and early to ensure you don’t miss out,” she said.
The new season commences January 30.
People wishing to nominate a team for any competition are urged to contact Kimmy Cooper on 9158 9380 or email jdhc2@porthedland.wa.gov.au.
Individuals looking to join a team are also welcome.
