Upgrades to the Pauline Mataka Netball Courts and Newman Tennis Courts have been completed ahead of schedule and reopened last week.

Shire of East Pilbara chief executive Allen Cooper said the upgrade was part of the Shire’s commitment to make the facility more suitable for competitive events.

“We are pleased to be able to deliver a good quality playing surface that enhances recreational pursuits,” he said.

“The upgrade project cost approximately $80,000, was finished ahead of schedule and under budget.”

Mr Cooper added Newman had secured the Northwest Regional Netball Championships to be held later this year and the town now had a facility that could cater for more events of this scale in the future.
