Nuisance bull puts resident in hospital
The Pilbara has no shortage of famous animals — Dampier has Red Dog, Hedland has Swino and Nullagine has an outlawed bull.
The bull fell foul of the law last month, charging a Nullagine resident in his yard after grazing on his onions.
Shire of East Pilbara councillor Biddy Schill raised her concerns about the attack, which resulted in the resident being taken to hospital with serious injuries, at a recent council meeting.
“The bull has been in town for a long time dining on all the lawns in the park; if there’s anything hanging over your fence he will claim it, ” she said.
“He was up to his usual tricks when he went into this gentleman’s yard to eat onions left by the back door, but when the owner went to shush him away he was charged.
“The guy had quite nasty injuries and had to be flown to Royal Perth Hospital to have metal plates put in his hand.
“We thought the bull was quite bland until that point, but if he’s going to throw a man over some onions what is he going to do to a child that gets in the way.”
Cr Schill said since the matter had been raised with the council, the rogue bull had done a runner. “Hopefully there are no more serious incidents in future, ” she said.
