It was a night to brag to your heart’s content and Port Hedland Primary students did not hold back.

Dragging their parents through each classroom, they used last week’s school’s opening night to show off their hard work, having created everything from dioramas and drawings to movies.

Parents touring the Year 1 classes encountered three-dimensional models of Hedland landmarks, based on six locations the students visited on excursions.

Over in the Year 2 class, teacher Rebekah Bacon showed parents dioramas based on the novel Banjo and Ruby Red, pages of solved problems in mathematics, measurement and comprehension and even student-made iMovies.

Ms Bacon admitted to sharing in the pride in her students’ work.

“Absolutely, I always love showing off all the hard work the children put in, ” she said. “It is a fantastic night.”

Port Primary mother Jules Fletcher praised the “exceptional job” done by the teachers.

“We are impressed the school puts this night on so both parents have the opportunity to come in out of work hours to see what their children are up to, ” she said.

“Many (Hedland) parents work long hours, so it is great.”
