Police call for witnesses
South Hedland detectives are searching for witnesses to a fight outside the Pier Hotel which left a woman with a broken hip.
Police said an altercation between a group of about six people and the 42-year-old woman occurred about midnight on Thursday, May 5.
The woman, who was with two male friends, had engaged in an argument for a taxi with the group outside the front entrance of the Pier before moving to the corner of the Esplanade and Anderson Street, where the attack occurred.
The victim suffered a broken hip and had to be transported to Perth for treatment.
South Hedland detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the incident to call them on 9160 2100, Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 or on the Hedland Crime Ewatch on hedland.crime.ewatch@porthedland.wa.gov.au.
