South Hedland Police made one of the biggest drug busts for the year last night, seizing more than 23 grams of methamphetamine.

The drugs are estimated to have a total street value of between $12,000 and $15,000.

Senior Constable Lee Burgess said the drugs were discovered after a search warrant was conducted at a South Hedland house.

"Police went to an address to conduct a warrant looking for stolen property and as a result we identified the drugs stashed beneath the mattress," he said.

Police said the location where the drugs were found was particularly concerning as it was close to a local high school.

Two South Hedland men, aged 27 and 31, have been charged with possessing a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply and possessing stolen property.

The men will appear in court on November 3.
