Riders rise to occasion in enduro

Shane SercombeNorth West Telegraph

With near-perfect conditions, the Port Hedland Motorcycle Club’s annual Mother’s Day Enduro was run at the 12-mile enduro loop.

The track was 36km long and full of long straights and soft creek beds passing through burnt-out vegetation and tight single-line bushland.

There were 25 riders who battled the track that was well-watered from the rain on the previous Friday, with riders travelling from Karratha to have a shot at Port Hedland’s fastest Aiden Chamberlin and current enduro No.1 title holder.

With no juniors or ladies taking place in the race, E1 was taken out by Clinton Smith, E2 was awarded to David Reed and E3 was taken out by Tim DeGroot.

Aiden Chamberlain was the fastest veteran on the day and the quickest master in the over-45s was Keith Wilkinson.

The overall top three standing saw third place go to David Reed, with six laps taking him 3.23.23, second place to Cameron Murray with six laps, taking him 3.21.23 and first place going to Aiden Chamberlain with six laps, taking him 3.10.20 and hanging onto his No.1 standing.

The club would like to thank all involved who made the day great.

The next Port Hedland Motorcycle Club enduro event will be held at Indee Station on Sunday, May 29, offering participants a chance to get some practice out at Indee before the Pilbara’s most famous race, the Indee 500 in July.
